Welcome to Flip a Coin.com (“we”, “our”, “the Service”). By accessing or using this website, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Service Description

Flip a Coin.com provides a free coin tossing tool intended for entertainment, decision-making, and educational purposes. The Service includes virtual coin flips on this website, customizable coin and background options, aggregated flip statistics, an embeddable widget for use on other sites, a public JSON API and MCP server for AI assistants and developers, and shareable verification pages for recorded flips.

2. Disclaimer of Warranty

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

Flip results are generated using a cryptographically secure random source — crypto.getRandomValues() in the browser for on-site single flips, and PHP random_bytes() (a CSPRNG) on the server for multi-flip runs and API requests. Server-generated flips are recorded for 30 days and can be independently confirmed via a citable verify_url at /flip/<id>. Nevertheless, we do not guarantee that any individual flip or sequence of flips will produce a perfectly fair 50/50 distribution. Random number generation is inherently subject to small statistical variations, and observed outcomes may deviate from theoretical expectations, especially over short sequences. For high-stakes or regulated applications requiring certified randomness, please use an accredited random number service.

3. No Liability

You agree that your use of the Service, including any decisions made based on flip results, is entirely at your own risk. Flip a Coin.com, its operators, contributors, and affiliates accept no responsibility or liability for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or other damages — financial, legal, personal, or otherwise — arising from the use of, or inability to use, this Service.

This Service is not intended for use as a basis for legally binding decisions, financial transactions, gambling, medical decisions, or any matters where impartial randomness must be cryptographically guaranteed. If you require certified randomness, please use a regulated random number service.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
  • Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or compromise the security or operation of the Service.
  • Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download the website’s content or pages.
  • Exceed the published API rate limits (60 requests per minute and 5,000 requests per day per IP) or otherwise place undue load on our infrastructure.
  • Misrepresent flip results or the Service in a way that misleads others.

Automated and AI-assistant access through our public API, MCP server, or embeddable widget is welcome, provided it stays within the rate limits above and does not impose undue load on our servers. Please send a descriptive User-Agent header when calling the API.

5. Custom Content

The Service allows you to customize coin labels and upload custom coin images. Such custom content is stored locally in your browser via local storage and is not transmitted to our servers. You are solely responsible for ensuring any custom content does not infringe third-party rights or violate applicable law.

6. Intellectual Property & Permitted Use

All content, design, code, and assets published by Flip a Coin.com (excluding user-supplied content and clearly attributed third-party assets) are owned by us or our licensors.

Individuals and personal websites — including ad-supported personal sites (e.g. Google AdSense) — may freely embed our widget and use our public API and MCP server, subject to the Acceptable Use limits in Section 4. Companies and organizations wishing to use the Service should contact us first via our Contact page to discuss usage. Reproduction or redistribution of the site’s own content, design, or assets (as opposed to using the widget/API as provided) without written permission is prohibited.

7. Third-Party Services

The Service uses third-party services including Google AdSense (advertising), Google Analytics (analytics), Microsoft Clarity (behavioral analytics), and Cloudflare (content delivery and security). Each third party operates under its own privacy and terms policies. See our Privacy Policy for details.

8. Statistics and Aggregated Data

The Service displays aggregate statistics derived from flips performed by all users (e.g., total flip count, heads/tails percentages). These statistics are anonymized aggregates and do not contain personal information. The displayed numbers are updated periodically and may not reflect real-time state.

9. Changes to the Service and Terms

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service or these Terms at any time without prior notice. Continued use of the Service following any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be reflected by an updated “Last updated” date at the top of this page.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or restrict access to the Service for any user who violates these Terms or whose conduct, in our sole judgment, is harmful to the Service or other users.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Osaka, Japan.
